The Omnia

Perched on a granite rock face high above Zermatt’s Bahnhofstrasse, the five star Omnia Mountain Lodge is the epitome of contemporary alpine luxury.

The Omnia in Zermatt

Opened in 2006, its striking angular glass and larch facade balances the town’s characteristic chalet style with the clean lines and minimalism typically synonymous with modern architectural design. Accessed via a tunnel off the main street, guests ascend 150 feet in a private glass elevator before emerging in the hotel’s lobby.

Whilst the exterior of the building reflects the style of its alpine setting, the interior spaces are a contemporary take on the classic American mountain lodge. Minimalist furnishings, a neutral colour scheme, open fireplaces in both the restaurant and the library, and 30 individual rooms and suites - each without numbers - creates a calm and inviting atmosphere for guests to relax and unwind. The hotel also has its own wellness centre, exclusively for use by its guests, where a state of the art gymnasium is complimented by a swimming pool, Turkish bath, caldarium, Finnish Sauna and petal steam room. The undoubted highlight though is the outdoor whirlpool that offers unbeatable views over the town and the Matterhorn, which from this elevated position feels like it’s almost within touching distance!

Everything at the Omnia is characterised by exquisite design and attention to detail, and the culinary experience is no exception. Fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients, creative contemporary cuisine and an extensive wine list covering everything from the celebrated Swiss wines of Domaine Donatsch in Graubünden to French classics such as Saint-Émilion’s famous Château Cheval Blanc. Open to both hotel guests and the general public, diners can choose a four course tasting menu with accompanying wine selections or opt to eat à la carte. The menu changes with the season, but the focus remains on modern, uncomplicated Swiss cuisine infused with international flavours.

With all the hallmarks of a first class hotel - handcrafted furnishings, award-winning gastronomy and impeccable, discreet service - it comes as no surprise to learn that the Omnia has been named Switzerland’s Leading Boutique Hotel for the last five years. So whether you’re looking for a five star winter getaway, an unforgettable romantic meal for two or a simple aperitif on the secluded terrace, Zermatt’s Omnia Mountain Lodge ticks all the boxes for the discerning visitor.
